Hi again Wedding Watchers!
I’m a little late in posting this as life has been rather hectic of late .
What a pleasure it was to toastmaster the wedding of Sally & Tim at the famous Midland Hotel in Manchester on Saturday 26th September, what a lovely couple and how fabulous they looked, I’ll be posting a pic of the three of us taken in the Midland foyer shortly.
It was a real city dwellers event, the newly weds live in a trendy apartment only a stones throw away from the Midland and married at St. Mary’s Church the Hidden Gem so it was only a short walk for them to make to the Midland after the ceremony.
Sally & Tim really know how to entertain, upon arrival guests enjoyed listening to an Irish Piper and Fiddler whilst enjoying their drinks.
Then into the magnificent Colony Room that was transformed for the wedding breakfast it looked magnificent and with its high ceilings it enabled Sally to chose beautiful tall red vases to be placed on each table filled with King Ginger,Sexy Starlets and Proteria Barbgera. The room looked magnificent, Henry was at the piano and the speeches and cake cutting were enjoyed by all present.
After the Wedding Breakfast guests usually have to amuse themselves until the room is prepared for the evening celebrations but Sally & Tim had most thoughtfully arranged for their guests to be entertained in the Wyvern Suite,no waiting and no queue for drinks at the bar here, guests were actually handed a drink of their choice as they walked into the room, what an excellent idea! and yet another pianist performance by Martin Moran.
By this time, early evening, the joint was really jumping and guests couldn’t wait to get back to the Colony Suite to dance where I performed my final duty of the day to announce the Bride & Bridegrooms first dance, what a charming moment.
Even more entertainment was organised for guests with Under Cover a five piece live band with vocalist’ and a DJ.
I can’t sign off without a word of thanks to the Best Man, well known Manchester Rally Driver John Hanlon, I refer to him as a serial Best Man as I understand he has fulfilled this duty over a dozen times or more.
His speech was well received especially with the sound effects, John was a great help to me during the day and made my job a lot easier and most enjoyable, many thanks again John.
Lastly, I must mention, how touched I was when leaving the Midland, the three of the younger ushers, Conner, Finlay and Jack came up to me and said “thank you Peter for doing such a good job today” well! who said the youth of today don’t know how to conduct themselves, well done young men! Finlay & Jack by the way are Best Man Johns sons.
